THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
Sally Allen and Roy Mantle negotiated with the FA for two major
international matches to take place at Wembley on behalf of sponsors, Guinness
Brewing.
In February 1991, the initial `Guinness International' saw
Cameroon become the first African country to play at Wembley.
The following September the second `Guinness International' made
history again with the first-ever visit to the Stadium by a unified German
team. The match, England v Germany, was organised to celebrate the 25th
anniversary of England's victory in the 1966 World Cup Final.
On the eve of the England v Germany match, stars from the England
and West German teams who contested the memorable 1966 Final met up again at a
special Guinness International Celebration Dinner.
